Here at Pilates Authentica we offer customized private/semi private sessions for every type of person: Athletes, Men, Women and Seniors.
Certified through Romana's Pilates instructor certification program, we have learned under the tutelage of Romana Kryzanowska, her daughter Sari, and granddaughter Daria. Studying with these ladies has enabled us to learn the Classical Method and teach it in the same manner as Joseph Pilates and staying true to this Method of exercise. Concentrating on Controlling the exercise from your Center will balance your strength and flexibility, no matter your situation. Everybody can do Pilates, but Pilates is not the same for Every Body.

Article Linkis the owner of Pilates Authentica. A native of Corpus Christi, she moved to San Antonio in 1999 to complete her Bachelor's Degree in Exercise/Sport Science from St. Mary's University. Her goal was to attend medical school, however when her brother, Ben Martinez, exposed her to Pilates in 2000, she was hooked. Instead of pursuing a medical degree, she began the rigorous training required to complete Romana's Pilates certification program. She is currently a Level V Instructor. Prior to earning the certification in 2009, Cecilia was a Personal Trainer/Group Exercise Instructor and has over 20 years of experience in the fitness industry.

Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on controlled movements, breathing and the body's positioning. It was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century as a way to improve both physical and mental health.
Pilates has many benefits, including improved global strength, flexibility, balance and body awareness. It can also greatly help to manage stress and improve overall physical and mental health.
Pilates is a helpful addition to a weight loss plan when practiced regularly in conjunction with cardiovascular exercises (walking, running, swimming, cycling etc). However occasional less-challenging Pilates exercises alone are not a primary weight loss tool. Pilates can help build muscle and increase metabolism, which can aid in weight loss.
Depending on your individual goals, it's recommended to do Pilates at least 3 times per week for best results. However, any amount of Pilates is better than none, so even doing it once a week can be beneficial.
Pilates can be done with or without equipment, so don't worry if you haven't any fancy Pilates props handy. Common equipment includes a Pilates balls, Pilates circles/rings, fitballs, dumbbells, resistance bands and Pilates machines such as the Reformer.

Pilates can be practiced safely during pregnancy, but it's important to consult with a physiotherapist prior to starting Pilates, particularly if you're nearing the second trimester. This is to ensure that any modifications are provided, to accommodate changes to your body during pregnancy as the baby grows. Exercising during pregnancy is very important, whilst ensuring that you're exercising safely. No! Mat and reformer Pilates are both fantastic and can be practiced together or separately. Mat Pilates can be as challenging as reformer, requires far less equipment, is more affordable and can be completed in the comfort of your own home. Private Sessions: An assessment is conducted on your first visit. Information regarding fitness goals, weaknesses, strengths and overall wellness are discussed with the certified instructor. A one to one session with a certified instructor utilizing various Pilates equipment to meet your specific fitness goals. Session length 55 minutes.
Small Group Sessions: 3-4 students session with a certified instructor offering a moderate paced class utilzing a variety of pilates equipment during the session. Session length 55 minutes.
